Green Peas Pulao (Matar Pulao)

Pulao and Biryani are the two types of Indian rice recipes that form an integral part of any formal or even informal lunch or dinner. Peas pulao has just the right mix of green peas with flavourful rice. The ghee and whole spices simply blend magically with the rice and peas to prepare a flavourful delight, peas pulao. Simple pulaos like this matar pulao are served with a curry dish and raita.

Ingredients :

Cooked Long grained rice (Basmati) : 1 cup
Green peas : 1 cup
Cumin seeds : 1/2 tsp
Bay leave : 1
Clove : 2
Cardamoms : 2
Cinnamon : 1 sticks
Pulao masala : 1 tbsp.
Ghee : 11/2 tbsp.
Sugar : 1 tbsp
Salt to taste

Method :

Heat ghee in a pan, add cashew nuts and toss till it turns light golden brown.

In the same oil add cumin seeds, coarsely ground cardamom, cinnamon,cloves and bay leave together. Add them once the cumins splutter.

Now add the peas, cover and cook for 2-3 mins.

Then add cooked basmati rice, sugar, salt and pulao masala, mix well.
Stir gently once in a while so that the rice does not burn at the bottom of the pan. Remove from the flame.

If it is just right then you might want to add some more salt as the rice.Turn off the heat and cover again for 5 minutes..

That's it. Serve the hot peas pulao with a vegetable or meat curry or eat it just like that. A raita always goes well with a pulao.
