Jalfrezi means dry fry, this is a Pakistani recipe, where tender chicken pieces are dry fried and smother in a tangy tomato flavored sauce. It is really spicy with delicious green bell peppers, whole red chilly and chilly powder and tastes different from the regular chicken recipes. Chicken Jalfrezi is a well know term among the young ones specially. It is a delicious fast food which is easy to cook and tasty to eat.
Ingredients :
Chicken : 500 gms. (I used with bone pieces you can use boneless)
Onion : 3, medium size, sliced
Capsicum : 1, medium size
Ginger : 1 inch
Garlic : 10 cloves
Tomato Puree : 1 cup
Tomato Ketchup : 2 tbsp.
Red Chilli Powder : 11/2 tsp.
Cumin seeds : 1/2 tsp.
Whole Red Chilli : 1
Curd/Yogurt : 1/2 cup
Vinegar : 1 tbsp.(optional)
Fresh coriander leaves chopped : few spring
Salt to taste
Oil as needed

Method :
Cut the capsicum in cubed. Grind the garlic and ginger into a smooth paste.
Wash and cut the chicken in cubed. Marinate the chicken pieces with curd, half the chilli powder, half the ginger-garlic paste and salt to taste, preferably in a refrigerator.
Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, allow to splutter. Add whole red chilli, stir fry for few seconds. Then add sliced onions, fry till golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste, saute for 2-3 mins.
Now add marinated chicken and stir fry for 5 mins. Mix in tomato puree, tomato ketchup, remaining red chilli powder and salt, saute chicken until it is almost dry, stirring in between, in medium heat.
Now add capsicum, chopped coriander leaves and vinegar, toss well. Remove from heat.
Serve hot with Naan/ Tandoori Roti/ Chapati.
